Since we know a lot of people are ready and eager to start playing around in this setting, welcome to the first ever official Airlocked Test Drive! For this test drive, we do have a posting format:

In the header of your comment, put your Character's Name and their Champion title. You don't have to put in the canon if you don't want, but you can if you feel the need.

And the guidelines we ask you to follow are, please try to include at least one prompt in your top-level to reply to, and if you make a top-level try to tag out to at least one other person. We want everyone to get a chance to give their choices a fair shake, after all.

Here are some examples to get you started:

A - Arrival
You wake up in a bed that's not your own, in a shiny chrome room that has bright fluorescent lights that light up along the floor as soon as your feet hit it and glowing sconces on the walls. Whether it's much different from what you're used to or not different at all, it's time to figure out where you are and more importantly, whether you're alone.

B - Mealtime
Well sweet, at least there's a cafeteria! But wait, it seems like there's only hot food during certain times of day. The rest of the time if you go foraging in the kitchen you can find weird silver packages with the name of food on the side that...definitely don't seem big enough to hold the food in question. If you open it up, it seems oddly dry...

C - Zero G
A zero gravity room! Awesome! The walls and floor are textured to give you something to hang onto to crawl across back to the control panel, but if you're floating in the middle of the room you might need someone to give you a push.

D - Holo Deck
A room where all your dreams come true. Kind of. In a photorealistic display of light and sound.

E - Anything else!

[Awaking up in a strange room and realizing you're in space was not an unfamiliar situation to Joel. In fact, one could say that he is taking all of this freakishly well. Instead of looking for other people or an explanation to why he's here, he spends most of the time looking over the rooms, stopping by the kitchen to grab a mug of coffee, looking over what's in all of them.

The only time he shows any mild surprise if when he actually sees another living being up here. He takes in in stride, but he looks relieved by seeing them.]

So do you come here often?

Holo Deck

[Joel soon realizes the cruel irony in the fact that he almost missed having to watch bad movies. He figured that having to watch a bad movie every week for a few years had to effect one's mind sooner or later, but it was a terrible thing to realize.

So, in an attempt to push away the feeling, he spends most of the day in the Holo Deck just... talking to himself. Not trying to talk to any of the holograms, just making humorous comments to everything going on.

Sorry to anyone who wanted to use the Holo Deck for something more useful/fun.]

[The unshaven, fairly bedraggled-looking blond definitely does not look comfortable in the clingy grey spandex unitard. There's a special mix of unease and fear that's settled in on his face, as he runs his hand along the walls and squints like he's looking into a mirror, muttering under his breath.]

A prison of stone I've seen, but a prison of steel...

[Amber eyes widen when he nearly bumps into a person.]

Andraste's knickers! I- ...didn't see you there. Do you know where we are?

[Anders is hesitant to touch the food, even the hot food that sits on the warming plates doing nothing but steaming invitingly. There's more variety here than he's ever seen, and even if he wasn't wary, even if he was hungry, he wouldn't know where to start.

The Champion's Unitard, however, does little to hide how very much he probably should be eating, however, clinging to his bird-skinny limbs and even almost to each individual rib.]

[Sure, this wasn't the first time Sylvia has woken up as a captive to some evil space guy, but she at least usually had an idea of why she was here.

She only suspected that she was here for a very bad reason, and she needed to get out as soon as possible. Thankful that she at least wasn't in a prison or chained to anything, she starts sneaking around for an escape pod, Wander, anything to help her escape or even figure out what the heck is going on here.

Sylvia is actually pretty good at sneaking around, but once you spot her it might be hard to ignore this giant blue alien being stealthy. If she sees that you've spotted her, she will grab you with a glare.]

Alright, who do I have to beat up to find a way out of this joint?!

[Most of Sylvia's awake time was spent desperately trying o find a way out, but she couldn't do this all day. Realizing that she still needed some time to recharge and eat something, she heads down to the cafeteria.

She, however, was too late for the proper meal times, so she was forced to try out these silvery packages. She was skeptical to the fact that they seemed oddly small but she was too hungry to complain. She can just eat multiple of them.

But as she opens it and realizes how gross and dry the food looks, she makes a face.]

Who even eats this garbage? I swear I've had better grub whenever I'm Lord Hater's prisoner.

[Mom!

Satoru wakes with a jolt, heart pounding like it's fit to burst, hands fisted in unfamiliar bedsheets as he shivers madly with adrenaline. He can't place it at first, can't figure out why he's awash with horror and dread, but then he remembers--Mom. His mom. His mom was--

He throws himself out of bed but before the scream caught at the back of his throat can rip its way out, he notices something else.]

What...?

[The clothes he's wearing. Satoru can't even rightly call them clothes; they're more like something out of a hero show or a manga. And the room--something's wrong with it. The perspective's wrong, or--he's missing his glasses, but it still seems clear, at least, but everything looks way too big, skewed in an uncontrollable way that seems like a dream.

Is this a dream? He turns around slowly, taking in the bright walls, the sterile strangeness of it all, and the shivering doesn't go away. Satoru shakes his head and crouches with a swallowed noise, putting numb hands over his ears.

Maybe it's all been a dream. Katanagiri-kun, the curry, his mother's visit--maybe he's still in the hospital, maybe it's all some kind of warped impression of people visiting him after the truck accident. Maybe he really did sustain brain damage. If he thinks about it through that lens, this place could be a hospital. He gulps and clutches his elbows, but struggles to his feet again.]

Mom...?

[It doesn't matter what's going on right now, if he's cracked his skull open for good or not. Throat dry, hands trembling, he stumbles to the door and--again, why is everything so weirdly stretched high, his hands look so small in comparison--lets himself out.]

Mom? [His voice sounds weird, too. He ignores it and steps out into the hall.] Mom, are you here? Mom!

E - IT'S MURDER DAY, NAUGHTY CHILDREN

No.

[One step. Another. The distance increases, and Satoru only realizes he's backing away from the body--all personhood erased from the lump of meat and bones like it spilled out with their blood--when he trips over his own foot and lands sprawling on his hands and ass.

He knows this smell, this gruesome image, and with a strangled cry, Satoru scrambles to hip, to knees, to feet as he flees the scene of the murder, pale as bone.]

[Oh Maker, that sure is a child. Scratch that, a lost child wearing the same unfamiliar clothing she is and yelling for his mother. If he looked more like Carver did when he was small she'd swear she was dreaming.

But okay, okay, it's not like she can just ignore him and go on her merry way even if she is notoriously terrible with children. Just do what Mother would, she tells herself.

She takes a few steps toward Satoru, awkwardly and unintentionally towering over him.]

[It's not that it's strange per se to wake up in a place like this. It's just that this isn't where he should be. Perhaps, in a way, it's strange to wake up at all. He tugs at the distracting unitard slapped on him, awkward in its shape to make way for his spines and tail, and frowns at his lack of shoes. And gloves. And rings.

This is all very unfortunate, and he's going to have to figure out what to do about it. First thing's first: off with the unitard. It's stifling and unfamiliar. Next is to go looking. If this is the Ark, he's not familiar with this section.

Other people are going to be given the wary eye. His voice is sharp and demanding, but not angry. That's for another time.] What's happened? How did I get here?

[Shadow jumps up to peer into the room through its window, and, unsatisfied (due to shortness), opens the door and peers inside. His fur immediately starts standing on end, and not because of fear or tension. Curious, he pushes his way inside, gliding gently across to the other end of the room and gracefully taking hold of the wall. There doesn't seem to necessarily be anything in here. It's just a room with no gravity.]

Curious... A malfunction?

[The Ark was, at the time, the most technologically advanced piece of technology mankind had created. And it still didn't have anything like this. He's not cruel to himself enough just yet to recreate painful memories, but he does give a basic description, schematic, of what appears to be an observation deck of a space station of some kind. It might seem a little outdated compared to what they're currently on, but the view of Earth below is nothing to sneeze at.

He places his hand on the glass, marveling at how cold it is to the touch.] How is something like this possible? [Says the chaos manipulating hedgehog full of alien DNA.]

If it's anything like what I've seen before, it's solid light projection technology. Manipulate light on the right level, and it's as solid as anything else. All you need is the right kind of diodes.

[...if this was another Swearth incident, Nautica was going to have some strong words with the guy, ship's bartender or not. She doesn't mind being in what certainly looks like her holomatter avatar, and wherever this place is, it doesn't feel like someone from the Decepticon Justice Division is going to start murdering left and right. She feels a little pang of worry, but brightens almost immediately - any ship has communication features. All she needs to do is find them.]

What is this thing you call food?:

[Little silver packages of dried stuff are weird, Nautica thinks. She's used to robot 'food' - Energon cubes or engex drinks, nothing like this. She's a little hesitant to attempt to consume the things, but she's trying.

Someone, please inform her that she needs to open the package before she eats it. She's clueless when it comes to human food.]

[Anyone following Nautica inside the holo deck will look at a rather pretty sight: a field of blue flowers. There's a statue in the middle of the field, but that's overshadowed by the giant purple robot. Friends, meet the 'real' form of your friendly neighborhood engineer. ]

[He was kinda disappointed that the food was kinda limited. But honestly? After having to live a few days off bread and luck back during the Invasion he can't be too upset. And at least the powders are interesting if not exactly appetizing.

Hibiki has read enough sci-fi and about space travel to know the pouches are probably dehydrated. That he's supposed to add water like a pouch of mashed potatoes.

Hibiki also doesn't care. Which is why you might find him leaning over the counter, scooting something along with a knife. A closer look exposes it as a pouch of 'green beans' that he's sorting out into, well, lines. He can't be planning on...

Though once he realizes he's not alone he at least has the forethought to look shamed, hiding the knife behind his back as he turns to face the other person- which likely isn't the most trustworthy posture- but hey, who could distrust that sheepish grin?]

So it's no surprise that people come here to try it out pretty regularly- but right now it looks pretty empty. Unless you have a good sense of self awareness or the like. Someone like that might feel eyes watching them from above. Hibiki has managed to grab the hand holds right above the door, just waiting to pounce on someone as they come in.

He's managed to flying tackle quite a few people today, but maybe this will be the one to catch him in the act?]

[ Barney is pretty sure he didn't go home with any weird space chicks the night before, but he could be wrong. Most nights can be kind of a blur. Either way, waking up in a weird space room, alone? No reason to panic. He's not hungover or anything, so that's maybe a little weird, but he's Barney Stinson. He's awesome. Hangovers are not awesome.

Waking up in a weird space room, without his suit anywhere in sight? Definitely time to panic. What the hell is he wearing? He's willing to bet one of his former conquests is behind this somehow, but which one of them had a space fetish? He's used the Neil Armstrong line enough times that he might actually have to write down a list... Good things these gross suits come with a notepad. ]

Let's see, Mindy, Abby, Dana... [ He's counting down with his fingers but he's clearly going to make it past ten. Rip. ] Carol, Cindy, Tara... Dammit, Barney, why are you so awesome?

[ Look, I'll be honest, I'm on my phone so I can't watch 6969, but just assume this hologram is as ridiculous as possible. This is the full strip club experience. In space. You've got your loud music, dimmed lights, and half-naked space chicks on stripper poles. Sure, none of it's real but how is that any different from the usual?

Barney is sitting down by the catwalk, enjoying the show with a huge grin. Sure, it sucks that he can't actually rock a suit here, but he's gotta solve his problems one at a time here. Is there a holographic green chick giving him a lap dance? Because there should be. Maybe you're trying to rain on his parade or join the fun. Either way, Barney Stinson has you covered. He'll even turn to you, then back at the hologram, raising his eyebrows suggestively. ]

[Sylvia was always a little skeptical of Barney, what with his title and his... everything, but she tried to give him the benefit of the doubt. After all, just because Wander wasn't here doesn't mean she can't give people a chance anymore. Maybe he's a really sweet guy under everything.

But when she goes into the Holo Room to unwind and finds herself in a strip club instead of something like a roadside diner or a nice quiet planet, she can feel her patience with the man rapidly wearing thin. She walks right behind Barney and folds her arms.]

[There are a lot of things to prioritize when waking up in an unfamiliar place. Finding out the where and how, and whether or not the where in question was safe were usually at the top. Looking for ways out, or at least lines of communication were usually high on the list too, as was finding out the 'why' of the situation once it became clear that there wasn't an obvious exit.]

Can't say I'm a big fan of the threads they gave us, it's a little too 'Space Trek', you know?

[Chrome. Chrome wasn't right. The Prodigium, like all Ormus ships, was made of dark metal meant to blend into the blackness of space. Margulis hadn't bothered to paint the inside of his personal quarters, covered as the walls were in tapestries and elaborate blades. The silver walls told him he'd been captured, and by someone smart enough to confiscate his normal clothes, at that.

So why, then, was the door unlocked? After searching the room he'd woken up in for anything his captors had been foolish enough to leave him that might prove useful, he stepped out into the hall. His limbs felt heavy and slow, as if his physical enhancement Ethers had shut down. Still, cowering wasn't in his nature...though caution was. Others might be surprised by the sudden appearance of the large, scarred man from around a corner, as had his footprints were deceptively quiet.]

[Holo Deck]

[Well, it wasn't the EVS, but it would do for venting his frustration. The solid holograms of various unearthly creatures weren't exactly a challenge, it was cathartic to exercise what he had left of his powers against familiar enemies. His hands and feet blazed with flame as he ruthlessly exploited the holograms' simple combat patterns, destroying them with a dramatic flare that could only be deliberate. As the last one dispersed, he folded his arms and snorted derisively.]

Still no substitute for getting my hands around that filth's throat...

Shadow skims his bare fingers over the spines down an aisle--they seem to all be chemistry books of some kind--until he reaches the center and Manami at the table. (And that awful statue. Ugh.) He at least has the wherewithal to seem...not embarrassed or humbled, exactly, but to understand it might be rude to just be traipsing in here.]

[ You would think that waking up in a strange room in space would be strange to Cocona, but really, it isn't. But it still sends her flying - figuratively, not literally - outside the dorm area with a slam, one that's so embarrassingly loud that most people in the area might actually be able to hear it. This must be... Pure Illusion? [ Her voice is incredibly small as she rests a hand under her chin, deep in thought for a few moments before she raises the volume of her voice, calling out: ] --Papika!

[ There's no way that she can be alone in this world. She's certain of it. Of course, when she clutches her heart and notices that her companion - friend? - is nowhere to be seen. Besides, she's completely and utterly lost, to boot. But when she sees an unfamiliar face, there's a wave of relief that sets within her, a heavy sigh that passes through her lips. ]

Ah-- excuse me! You haven't seen someone named Papika around, have you? Energetic, long pink hair, kind of strange... [ She even does hand gestures, as if that would help with her explanation. ] She might even be on a long yellow hoverboard.

[ And guess who made that absolute worst decision to come when they were serving anything but hot meals? This girl, naturally. Today seems to be her unlucky day, so she can't help but sigh, pulling her sleeves as she glances in your general direction. ]

[The whole experience of waking up in a strange room is enough to make her throat tighten up. How many more times was she going to go through something like this? The basement of that building, a hospital... at least the second time she still remembered everything and she did now as well.

For a moment the girl has to sit somewhat frozen in place, doing her best not to panic. Focus, she tells herself. She's dressed in some sort of body suit - it clings to her skin as she tugs at it a little. The room itself isn't very descriptive but she gets the feeling it certainly isn't underground this time or in a hospital. So where could she be...?

In the end she'll slip among the hallways and rooms somewhat carefully. She barely brushes five foot and at thirteen she does still look quite young. She looks equally curious though and the first person she meets naturally gets a question, after a brief greeting of course.]

[This particular body is a pretty gruesome display and it's a shock to Rachel's sense when she first comes across it. A wave of surprise and fear washes over her briefly, her hands rising to clasp over her mouth as she takes a step back.

Just as quick as she reacts though, her whole demeanor changes. It's like she's taken in a breath and released it, retreating inward. There's a peculiarly empty look to her gaze as her hands drop and she steps forward, toward the scattered bits of body.]

Ah. I don't know who this is.

[It's little wonder she doesn't, considering how badly the body has been treated. She looks upon it impassively as if studying it's details. The pool of blood is large here and the blonde murmurs a little.]

[ Okay this is driving her crazy. The provided meals are nice and all but... she can't stand not cooking. Especially when there's so many people here to eat together with! It's frustrating not being able to make something for them all.

So today she's foraging around the kitchen. There's... only these weird packages with the dry things in them. She doesn't even recognize all these flavors (what's an... ice cream?)... what could she do with these?

She's now staring at a pile of packages that she collected (one of every type she could find!), leaning to one side and tapping her chin in thought. A few of them lay open and scattered, one with a bite already taken out of it and another snapped cleanly in half. ]

Hmm... maybe if I crumble them up really finely and mix some of the flavors... I could use them for a soup...

[ Is there even any cooking equipment here? Whatever, she doesn't care. She can make soup in that weird "cawfii" thingamajig if she has to. If she can make delicious soup from a giant sandworm she can do something tasty with all this too. ]

.............so uh, there are two ways you can encounter him. If you happen upon him without him noticing you first, he is assaulting what looks to be some very expensive machinery because it's not doing what he wants it to do, which is either explaining this Tauros shit or sending him the fuck home. Maybe he should... stop that.

If he notices you first, though... um. Well, he is very tall, so he's likely going to get up in your business and slouch into your face because that is how he rolls. He will still make an attempt if you're taller than him, granted, but...]

It's some weird fake thing that he can't hang out with or feed beans or anything and it sucks. After a certain point, he straightens up from his previous Slav squat to look around the room for a bit, muttering to himself...]

There are a great deal of questions I have. The first of these, of course is what have you people done with my outfit?!

[The footage is pretty alarming, to the uneducated outsider. It consists of an elaborate Rube Goldberg machine, consisting of all sorts of cartoony weapons, doing harm to a blue hedgehog. It gets smashed with hammers, hit with wrecking balls, blown apart by explosives. The most annoying of all, however, is the annoying quips that the hedgehog insists on letting out every single time it passes on.

"GOTTA GO FAST!" "YOU'RE TOO SLOW! "IT'S NOT EASY BEING PREGNANT!"

Every one of those makes Eggman's eyes twitch behind his glasses. However, he is enjoying this all the same. He even has a silver package labeled "POPCORN" and picks at it as he watches this affair, too engrossed in the display before him to pay any mind to the fact that it tastes absolutely disgusting.]

This is absolutely marvelous! My compliments to the genius who thought these schemes up, HO HO HO HO!

[ Okay, so, space is cool and all. Like, really cool. The decor is certainly nice, and some of the rooms are actually pretty fun. The company's great, too! Sure, she may have had a bit of a conniption when she first came here; considering the circumstances, though, she's not exactly sure if anyone can blame her, right?

Not having her Soul Gem on hand was a problem; she was certain that if she could just transform, she could find some kind of a way out of here, but, clearly, their gracious hosts have thought that far ahead...still, there are plenty of ways for her to live up to her title, even without her ability to turn into a magical girl! She may be a bit on the small side, but, she's pretty thorough when it comes to patrolling the area at night! ...Of course, it means she sleeps until high noon in the morning, but at least no one ever catches her snoozing! If you're out and about during the night (or, at least, during what she presumes is the night, it's all the same in space, isn't it?!), prepare to get an earful of the blue terror... ]

Hold it right there! You better not be up to anything suspicious!

[ That said, during her free time, she's quite fond of the Holo Deck, and she often uses it to put on little concerts for herself. She tries not to hog it up too much, but, from the sound of it, she's particularly fond of violin music...she doesn't mind company appreciating the music with her! But at the same time, oddly enough, though she's usually quite the vivacious one, her mood in here is...somber? Sometimes even on the verge of tears, but-- ]

A-ah, I'm sorry, I guess I'm just the sentimental type sometimes..! You can't blame me for getting a little emotional, can you? I mean, listen, doesn't it just sound too good to be true?!

[ A new area of their big metal space prison opening up means more ground to cover during her patrols, but it also means they might be one step closer to finding a way out of here, so Sayaka tends to go into them with as much enthusiasm as she can! After all, it never hurts to be optimistic, and going into the week with a cool head and a fresh mind is better than the alternative.

Unfortunately, one perfectly normal step forward into uncharted waters causes her eyes to glaze over, with any sign of life draining from them in an instant. All of a sudden, like a puppet with its strings cut, Sayaka slumps to the floor, hitting the ground with a thud, but she moves no further than that; her body doesn't even make the slightest twitch, a cold, lifeless husk on the floor. One may think she just fainted, or fell unconscious, but there's no sign of a pulse, despite the lack of any sort of apparent cause of death.

For the time being, by all appearances, Sayaka Miki is dead. ]
