Hello, Airlocked! Welcome to the final motive of Round 1! As some of the astute observers may have guessed, it's time for the classic:

LOCKDOWN MOTIVE

[airhorn party]

The groups for this motive are as follows:

2nd floor:
The Doctor
Yurika
Natsuhi

3rd floor:
Xander
Thomasin
Jamie

4th Floor:
Jane
Togami
Bolton

Around the normal motive time on Tuesday, everyone's PIPs will cease to function, leaving them stranded on whatever floor they're on. There will be futuristic portapotties installed on each floor for the sake of not going full Sims (totally not because we forgot bathrooms even though we've had this planned for weeks) (we are seasoned veteran mods) (at least we're giving you a place to poop).

If you have any questions, drop them here!

It's that time, everyone! Weekly check-in!

Living characters must submit two ten-comment threads with two different characters per week. Dead characters need only comment to check-in as a formality. Threads must be from week 5.

Check-in will close at 12 pm EST on Friday (3/31).

There will be no Boons/Sabotages or Shield Tokens distributed this week. If you turn in threads that have a total eligible for either one of these rewards, you will receive credit for doing so, but there will be no IC rewards this week.

AC threads may come from the weekly mingle log or any player-posted logs from the check period, but since the trials have their own activity requirements they are ineligible for the activity check. When submitting your comments please add the number of total comments in the threads at the time of submission as this makes it quicker and easier for the mods to calculate if a Boon or Sabotage has been earned. On that note, remember that in order to earn a Boon or Sabotage you must have your AC in by 5 pm EST on the Tuesday of that week.

Failure to meet AC without informing the mods will result in a strike. Two weeks in a row will result in an automatic death roll. AC will go up on Sundays for the previous Sunday-Friday, and will close at 12:00 pm (EST) on the following Friday. Activity checks will be screened, to preserve some sense of secrecy for the distribution of Boons and Sabotages.

It's that time, everyone! Weekly check-in!

Living characters must submit two ten-comment threads with two different characters per week. Dead characters need only comment to check-in as a formality. Threads must be from week 4.

Check-in will close at 12 pm EST on Friday (3/17).

As a reminder we will also be awarding incentives as a reward for checking in on time! Submitting the minimum amount of comments for both threads (20 comments total) characters will receive one free item from the Benefactors. This is essentially the same as a free roll for the Benefactors' Hold. For another 30 comments (50 total), characters will receive a Sabotage/Boon from the Overseers. If you're a total all-star and turn in two threads that total 200 comments (or 100 from your character) in one week, you get a one-time Shield Token. This means if the Overseers approach your character with a Sabotage, you can spend the shield token to bounce that sabotage back on the character who targeted yours. Each character cannot hold more than one Shield Token at a time, and they cannot earn more than two Shield Tokens over the course of the game. The mods will reply to your AC with what rewards you have earned.

AC threads may come from the weekly mingle log or any player-posted logs from the check period, but since the trials have their own activity requirements they are ineligible for the activity check. With the overwhelming success of the test drive meme and the start of a brand new year, we the mods have set an official date for Airlocked's first Mock Trial! The investigation and trial itself will be Friday and Saturday, January 13-14, and reserves will be open on Friday, January 6.

What is a Mock Trial?

A Mock Trial is a murdergame-specific kind of test drive meme! It's a way to give newbies a better sense of the weekend commitment required by a murdergame so that they can decide if it's the right fit for them. Effectively, it's exactly the same as an investigation and trial in any regular round - the players plot the case ahead of time and then on the weekend of the investigation, a body is discovered and the rest of the cast has to figure out what happened.

Do I need to apply to be in the mock trial?

No, but you do need to reserve. In effect, this is just to lock you into a character and help commit to a more authentic murdergame-style overarching narrative. Once the mods have replied to your comment with your Champion title, you cannot switch your reserve.

Will there be an IC mingle?

Yes there will! It will go up once reserves are filled or at the latest on the evening of Monday the 9th (evening, EST, when Mod Ri gets home from work).

I've played in a murdergame before, can I still do the mock trial?

We know you want to scratch the itch, and we fully encourage that. But we ask that you be respectful of the newbies, and while we're open to allowing a mix of veterans and new players to join in the mock trial, we want to prioritize getting experience for new players to decide whether the format is one they want to commit to.

Does this count as a reserve for round 1?

No, it does not. Nor will any priority be given insofar as participation in the mock trial is concerned.

Can I use threads from the mock trial for samples on my app?

Yes. Like the test drive meme, if you app the same character to the main round that you played in the Mock Trial you can use your threads as samples provided that they are long enough to accurately demonstrate your character's voice and your grasp thereof.

I have other questions!

Hit us up down below! If your question is about the appability of a specific character or about what title a certain character could have, please refer to the FAQ and the Application page, and contact us privately if your question isn't answered there.

Since we know a lot of people are ready and eager to start playing around in this setting, welcome to the first ever official Airlocked Test Drive! For this test drive, we do have a posting format:

In the header of your comment, put your Character's Name and their Champion title. You don't have to put in the canon if you don't want, but you can if you feel the need.

And the guidelines we ask you to follow are, please try to include at least one prompt in your top-level to reply to, and if you make a top-level try to tag out to at least one other person. We want everyone to get a chance to give their choices a fair shake, after all.

Here are some examples to get you started:

A - Arrival
You wake up in a bed that's not your own, in a shiny chrome room that has bright fluorescent lights that light up along the floor as soon as your feet hit it and glowing sconces on the walls. Whether it's much different from what you're used to or not different at all, it's time to figure out where you are and more importantly, whether you're alone.

B - Mealtime
Well sweet, at least there's a cafeteria! But wait, it seems like there's only hot food during certain times of day. The rest of the time if you go foraging in the kitchen you can find weird silver packages with the name of food on the side that...definitely don't seem big enough to hold the food in question. If you open it up, it seems oddly dry...

C - Zero G
A zero gravity room! Awesome! The walls and floor are textured to give you something to hang onto to crawl across back to the control panel, but if you're floating in the middle of the room you might need someone to give you a push.

D - Holo Deck
A room where all your dreams come true. Kind of. In a photorealistic display of light and sound.

E - Anything else!
Or Create your own!

This is not an official reserve, nor does it guarantee a slot in the game, but if you do choose to app a character that you test drove, you can use two minimum 20-comment threads or one minimum 40-comment thread (so at least 20 total comments from your character) in place of writing a sample. So have fun with it!
